Finding a Linux job at LinuxWorld
Jul. 13, 2007

So, you want a job in Linux do you? Well then get your tickets for San Francisco to see Dice's free Technology and Engineering career fair at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo taking place on Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

During the career fair, attendees can meet with recruiters and representatives from leading Linux and open-source companies. Attendees can pre-register for the Dice Technology and Engineering Career Fair by visiting the LinuxWorld Job Fair site.

Dice is a well-known high tech job site. The company has also recently taken to running job fairs for specific technology jobs.

"The Dice Technology & Engineering Career Fair is great for attendees because they can bolster their job seeking efforts while attending an industry event, as well as for employers who will have access to a highly qualified pool of potential candidates," said Bob Westerkamp, VP of Targeted Job Fairs, a Dice company.

"Most prospective employees stick with traditional methods of finding a job, but by attending this free event, technology professionals have the opportunity to present themselves in front of the companies that need their skills."

Also at LinuxWorld, the LPI (Linux Professional Institute) will be offering free LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 certification exams to paid conference delegates. All candidates must pre-register at the LPI Web site for an LPI ID number at the secure LPIC registration site. Exam candidates must bring valid photo identification and their LPI ID number to the exam lab.

In addition, attendees can register for a free exhibit hall pass to LinuxWorld Conference & Expo on or before August 5, 2007 at the LinuxWorld registration site. Exhibit hall passes are $50 thereafter. The pass provides attendees with access to the keynote addresses, feature presentations, birds-of-a-feather meetings and the exhibit hall floor.

The LPI will also be holding a birds-of-a-feather meeting on "Linux Certification: The New Wave", on Aug. 8 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. G. Matthew Rice, LPI director of product development, will lead a discussion on the growing demands for enterprise certification including testing for new job duties around Windows/Linux integration.

LinuxWorld, the largest event that focuses exclusively on Linux and open source in North America, is scheduled to take place August 6-9 at San Francisco's Moscone Center.
