Novell names North Americas channel president

. . . keeping an eye on the penguin

Novell on Nov. 1 named Troy Richardson as president of Novell Americas. Richardson, formerly vice president and general manager of sales for Novell's Northeast region, will be responsible for the full range of Novell's sales and consulting business across the U.S., Latin America, and Canada.

Along with this change, Susan Heystee, the former president of Novell Americas, becomes the VP and general manager for global strategic alliances, a newly created position that recognizes the importance of Novell's partner community to Novell's success.

Richardson has over 22 years in the technology industry, with a proven track record for consistently delivering significant revenue and profit growth and building high performance teams, according to Novell. Richardson joined Novell in July 2005 as VP and general manager for the Northeast Area.

Prior to working for Novell, Richardson served as VP of NCR Corp's Retail Solutions Division for the Americas. He also held various executive-level positions in sales and marketing management during a 15-year career with IBM.

Tom Francese, executive VP of worldwide sales for Novell, stated, "Troy has done a great job over the last year in driving Novell's success in the Northeast region, helping customers in the financial services, government and retail sectors leverage Novell solutions for their businesses. I look forward to him expanding this success to our broader Americas region, where we see real potential for our growth businesses of Linux and open source and security, identity and resource management."

"In addition, I can't think of anyone better to lead our critical global partnering efforts than Susan [Heystee], who's done an excellent job driving our Americas business over the last two years," added Francese.

Heystee had served as president of Novell Americas since July 2005. She joined Novell in March 2004 as VP and area general manager for the Midwest area of North America. Before joining Novell, Heystee served as president of Baan Americas, a supply chain management software company until its acquisition by SSA Global in 2002. Heystee then served as SSA's Executive VP for worldwide sales and delivery.

Richardson stated, "This is a very exciting time for Novell as we drive our new Linux and identity, security, and resource management businesses forward. Novell is well positioned to help customers leverage the performance and value of open source and standards-based solutions. I look forward to working with customers across the Americas region to help them save money and improve their business processes with Novell solutions."
